Help

Can any image be duplicated through our service?
We do not scan any images with nudity.  We can scan up to 8.5" X 11.5" color photos, fine line text or black and white photos. There is no problem as long as there is not a copyright issue with an image or document.  You can not use material that has a copyright by another person or business.  If you wish to use a portrait from a studio or photographer, you must first obtain permission from them in writing. SCANPIC will not scan or copy any image that appears to have a copyright.  SCANPIC assumes no liability for images that are sent to us. The ultimate responsibility for copyright compliance rests solely on the customer submitting it.  Please review our copyright notice here.

Is it safe to mail in my cherished photos?
We think the US Postal Service does a good job handling mail.  We have never had a problem with client's work getting lost or damaged unless the packaging was inadequate. Registered Mail, UPS, and USPS are very safe means of shipping because the packages can be tracked with a tracking number available at the time of shipment.
Overnight services like Federal Express, Airborne Express, UPS and USPS special delivery options like certified mail will provide you with even better security.

What are your capabilities as a photo restorer?
We can do an excellent job cleaning up dust, scratches, removing stains, cracks and tears from your old or damaged photographs.  Cracks with missing facial features are more challenging.  We get excellent results with simple crack coverage.  We can remove and replace cluttered backgrounds.  We can create photographs by combining people from different photos or remove unwanted objects.  Just about anything you can think of, we can probably do.  We can even apply colorization to your old black and white's for you.  Experience is paramount in Photo Restoration, and the professionals at SCANPIC have years behind them.  For a more detailed look at our Photo Restoration services, check us out here.

How can I be sure I'll be satisfied with your photo restoration work?
We will be sending you an online preview of our work for your approval about halfway through the process.  This will give you some confidence in our work before we move forward on your final image.  If you are not 100% satisfied, we will return your photo postage paid by SCANPIC.

What is a SHUTTERFLY.COM Online Photo Album?
A SHUTTERFLY.COM Online Photo Album is a place you can store, organize and share your photos with family and friends, people in your club, teams, or organization.  Your SHUTTERFLY.COM Album will help you stay in touch with the people that you care about most by sharing pictures and telling stories about the important moments in your lives.  After SCANPIC scans your pictures, we will set up and upload your pictures to a personalized password protected photo album, so you can easily order photo prints, share them with your loved ones or download the originals.  If you prefer, we can also send your digital images by email attachment.  You can find out more about this service here.

Can I get a 15 year Olan Mills portrait scanned and reprinted?
Even though you originally paid for those prints some 15 years ago, the studio still owns the copyrights to the photograph.  The only way you could legally make reprints would be to pay for and get the copyright released.  Upon meeting the required fee, Olan Mills will issue you in writing their release.  If you submit a copyright piece of work, be sure to send us a copy of the release.  We will be calling to validate its authenticity. It's the law and we follow it.  Check out our copyright notice here

What are your prices for the various services you provide?
Pricing for all services can be found on the order form.  Our prices dramatically drop with volume.  You can take advantage of this by getting everything done all at once.   Check out the  sample order form that is already filled out.

Do you enhance images after scanning?
Yes, we do.  We follow your specific instructions related to cropping and apply color corrections, brightness and contrast adjustments, removal of red eye and blend in minor scratches and blemishes.  You can count on SCANPIC for quality.  We wanted out scan price to be all inclusive and simple.  All these professional adjustments are standard with our service.  That is why our scans turn our better than the original photo.  It's the professional human element and SCANPIC's commitment to excellence.

Is payment done under secure conditions?

Yes.  When you pay for your order by credit card, all information is encrypted using PapPal's secure server.  You can easily make payments here to expedite your order.

What graphics file formats do you support?

We can convert and output to just about any graphics format that is currently available on the market.  We prefer to work and output to uncompressed JPG format due to its quality and manageable file size.  If you specify in your order form, we will gladly compress them down for you.  We like to deliver our images uncompressed because compression does degrade image quality.  We want to give you the best image possible to start with, even though the file size may be significantly larger.

Can you make CD copies of my pictures?

Yes, we can.   We can copy your scanned photos to CD for a very reasonable fee.  We can also take your CD that has information on it and make a duplicate copy of it for you if it's not copyrighted material. Our order form has all the details.

How long will it take to get my scanned digital images from the photos I sent you?

If you have Internet access, you will have access to our work 24 hours from the time we receive payment and have possession of your original photos.  We have staff working 24/7 and know quick turn around is important to you.  They will either be delivered to your email address as an attachment or uploaded to your free online photo album.  We encourage you select the Photo Album option.  Once we upload all your photos to your Online Photo Album, we will email you the Internet address and the password to access it.  Once you visit your album or account, we encourage you to change the password so you and only you know what it is.  Return postage is included in your per scan fee.  Please allow three more business days for your originals and any ordered CD's to arrive.  For an extra fee, we will be glad to mail your items back via FedEx or certified mail.

How long does it take to complete professional photo restoration work?

From two to five business days.  We will call or email you with our damage report so you will know exactly how much it will cost to repair.  Our rates for photo restoration are based on the level of damage.  Details on pricing can be found in our order form.  We can not begin work until you have made payment  and have given us approval to proceed with the work.  If you are not pleased with the samples of our low resolution work, we will refund your money.  Once you accept the finished high resolution image, we will be unable to provide you with a refund.  For a more detailed look at our Photo Restoration services, visit us out here.

Can I blow up small photographs by scanning them first?

Yes, you can but please keep in mind image quality begins to dramatically fall once you double its size.  The larger and clearer the original photo, the better the digital scan will turn out.
